Cover Envy (10)

It's that time of week again! I'm showing another couple of covers that make me green with envy and stuck sitting on my hands until the novels they cover come out.

I hope you enjoy!

Roses & Bones: Myths, Tales & Secrets by Francesca Lia Block- I love the color contrast of this cover. The bright pink lips and wording contrasting with the dark green of her hair and light green of her eye shadow is really attractive. I also love that the model's eyes are closed. If eyes are the window to the soul then this girl feels like she is hiding something. She's got some secrets. Overall, I love this cover!

Summary from Goodreads:

In this new volume, three of Francesca Lia Block's works are collected together for the very first time.

In The Rose and the Beast, nine classic fairy tales are turned inside out in classic Block style. Kirkus Reviews said about this Los Angeles Times bestseller, "Block uses language like a jeweled sword, glittering as it cuts to the heart."

In Psyche in a Dress, the Psyche we all know from Greek mythology finds herself in California. Tempted by gods and demons she must discover a way to find herself again.

And in Echo, a retelling of the story of Echo and Narcissus, Echo meets a broken angel, vampires, and the fairy daughter of a rock on her quest for true love.

Love and magic and believing in ourselves are timeless themes, and this new collection will introduce Francesca Lia Block to a whole new generation of readers waiting to fall under her spell.

Roses & Bones is out December 21, 2010.

My Not-So-Still Life by Liz Gallagher- I choose this book cover because it and the first remind me of each other. Like the first one, I'm drawn to the bright colors-- the hot pink of the hair, the multiple shades in the eye make-up! It's absolutely beautiful. I also like that she's winking. It sets a really fun tone that the summary back up.

Summary from Goodreads:

Vanessa is wise beyond her years. She's never really fit in at school, where all the kids act and dress the same. She's an artist who expresses her talent in the wacky colors she dyes her hair, her makeup and clothes. She's working on her biggest art project, and counting the days until she's grown up and can really start living. That adult world seems closer when Vanessa gets her dream job at the art supply store, Palette, where she worships the couple who runs it, Oscar and Maye. And she's drawn to a mysterious guy named James, who leads her into new, sometimes risky situations. Is she ready for this world, or not?

My Not-So-Still Life comes out May 10, 2011.

  4. Great covers - love the contrast in the first and the jazzed-up eyes in the second. The latter novel pic does look like an art/music major student :D

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
