Book Tunes (7)

Book Tunes is a new meme that will be held on Fridays and the point is to share the book your reading and a song you think represents it. Be sure to include the novel you are reading, the summary, the song you think fits it and an explanation of why you chose that particular song. So snag yourself a button, write a post and link up at the bottom of the page!

From Goodreads:
One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever.  Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.”  Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.
Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either.  Or does she?  They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason.  As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas.  Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past.  Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.
Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

The Tune: Reach by Eyes Set To Kill
The Lyrics
Hush don't speak a word about the dreams that I live for
It hurts to reach you when I'm down
Don't speak again, I'm still waiting for my turn
It hurts to reach you when I'm down

My dreams are growing into
Frustrations when I hear your voice
(feeding me till I'm choking)
My ears are ringing louder
Repeating words that bring me down
(ringing, my ears are bleeding)

So hold your breath and spare me
The pointless conversation, I'm running out of patience
Don't blame me for trying to reach

Hush don't speak a word about the dreams that I live for
It hurts to reach you when I'm down
Don't speak again, I'm still waiting for my turn
It hurts to reach you when I'm down

As you are moving forward
I feel as if I can't catch up
(trying so hard to reach you)
I'm stuck here at the bottom
You're too high up to come back down
(trying so hard to reach you)

So hold your breath and spare me
The pointless conversation, I'm running out of patience
Don't blame me for trying to reach

Hush don't speak a word about the dreams that I live for
It hurts to reach you when I'm down
Don't speak again, I'm still waiting for my turn
It hurts to reach you when I'm down

Silence your harsh words my dear
My ears are ringing of this
I can't stop thinking of it
(I try to reach you but I fall)

Hush don't speak a word about the dreams that I live for
It hurts to reach you when I'm down
Don't speak again, I'm still waiting for my turn
It hurts to reach you when I'm down

Why This Tune?:

Poor Kylie is having such a hard time with life. She's always reaching so hard for answers that aren't easy. She wants to know why her parents are getting a divorce and why her dad is walking out on her. She wants to know what she is and why people are telling her something else. She also wants to know how she feels about the guys in her life and what feelings are right. She spends so much time reaching for these goals and by the middle of the novel she's just tired-- and it hurts. This song fits with so many aspects of her life and the "you" that is always so elusive and high above her can be replaced with so many things.

Thinking of writing something below? Well, that's why you are awesome! I always love feedback!

This blog is an award free zone. With the demand of a full time job, blogging time is becoming much more precious and I just don't have the time to meet the demands of awards. Thanks so much for thinking of me anyway!
